About The Phenomenon Files

What this site is

The Phenomenon Files is an independent, non-government educational archive about unidentified flying objects (UFOs) and unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP). It brings together the history of official investigations, the best-documented cases, congressional testimony, declassified government files and the official Navy and Pentagon videos — from Kenneth Arnold’s sighting in 1947 to the Pentagon’s 2026 file releases — and it reports the latest UFO and UAP news from around the world.

We are not affiliated with any government agency, political group or UFO organization, and we don’t sell anything.

How we handle evidence

Every claim is sourced. Timeline events and case files link to their sources — official government records first, then major news outlets and reference works. Where an official or skeptical explanation exists, we include it.

Claims are labeled as claims. Statements by witnesses and whistleblowers are presented as what they say happened, not as established fact. As of today, no official U.S. government report has concluded that any UAP is extraterrestrial, and we say so plainly.

News is written here, not copied. Our news stories are original write-ups of recent sightings and official developments around the world. Each one says who reported what, includes what officials and experts say — including ordinary explanations such as satellites, drones or balloons — and links to every report it draws on.

Primary sources are preserved. Public-domain government documents are hosted on this site, and the pages we link to are archived on the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine so they stay available.

Images and videos are free to use. We only use public-domain U.S. government media and Creative Commons images, credited in full on the sources page.

Corrections

If you find a mistake, a broken link or an outdated fact, please tell us. We correct errors promptly and update the “Last updated” date on the affected page.

Sister sites

We also run two other independent sites about the unexplained: Cryptid Map, a guide to cryptids near you and around the world, from Bigfoot to Mothman, and Most Haunted Places, a guide to haunted places near you and around the world, with the real history behind each story.
