PENTAGON UFO FILE · DOCUMENT · DOE-UAP-D001Enhanced PANTEX Imagery
This is the first piece of the Pantex material to be released, in May 2026: just pages 5 and 6 of a six-page security report about an unidentified object over the Pantex Plant near Amarillo, Texas, the main U.S. site for assembling and dismantling nuclear weapons. The full report followed in a later release as DOE-UAP-D005.
What the two pages show
Page 5 is headed “Image from Ground Surveillance Radar Tower” and page 6 “Sandia National Labs Enhanced Images of the Object.” Both pages carry the marking UCNI, Unclassified Controlled Nuclear Information, a Department of Energy category for sensitive but unclassified details about nuclear facilities, and the imagery itself is withheld under that rule in this version. In practice, a reader of this file sees the page headings and the plant operator’s branding, but no usable picture.
Sandia National Laboratories, another Department of Energy laboratory, was asked to enhance the video because, as the full report explains, the camera that caught the object was too far away to show much detail.
Why it matters
On its own the file tells little. Its value is as a marker: it shows that a nuclear-weapons site logged an unknown object, sent the footage to a national laboratory for enhancement, and still treated the result as sensitive years later. The fuller report describes the object as small, slow and silent, and says it never came close to sensitive assets.
