PENTAGON UFO FILE · DOCUMENT · DOW-UAP-D064Mission Report, Iran, November 2020
This mission report (MISREP) covers a sortie that took off from Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait at 0608Z on November 2, 2020, and landed after 20.42 mission hours. Like D060–D063, it is a 482nd Attack Squadron surveillance report. Its title places the sightings in Iran; the grid references in the released text are truncated, so the exact location cannot be checked.
The two observations
Both sightings were made on full-motion video while the aircraft flew at flight level 220 on a heading of 110 degrees true, at about 105 to 107 knots. At 2143Z the crew observed one unidentified aerial phenomenon at an unknown altitude, on a bearing of 080 degrees true. At 2148Z, five minutes later, they saw an additional UAP traveling northwest. Neither entry describes shape, size or speed, and the grid for each is redacted.
Conditions and context
The weather block notes that haze precluded imagery (IMINT) collection, which limits what the video could have shown. At 1012Z the aircraft had been hailed on the guard frequency by Iranian air defense, a common event on these Gulf missions. The report does not say whether the two sightings were the same object seen twice; it lists them as separate observations. For a report from the same squadron with three sightings in one day, see DOW-UAP-D065.
The official description
From war.gov/UFO, released May 8, 2026, quoted in full
This document is a Mission Report (MISREP), a standardized reporting form the U.S. Military uses to record the circumstances surrounding its operations. U.S. military services often use MISREPs to report Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) to AARO. The GENTEXT, or “general text” section of these reports often contains important qualitative, contextual information, distinguishing it from the more quantitative, or numerical, data found elsewhere in the report. A U.S. military operator reported observing two UAP on November 2, 2020, at 2143Z and at 2148Z. The first observation occurred at an unknown altitude. The reporter described the second UAP’s direction of travel as proceeding to the northwest. All descriptive and estimative language contained in this report reflects the reporter’s subjective interpretation at the time of the event. Such characterizations should not be interpreted as a conclusive indication of the presence or absence of any intrinsic object features or performance characteristics.
