Unresolved UAP Report, Kuwait, May 2022

Department of WarIraq2 MBPartly redacted

Unlike most items in this series, this report is a single still image, not a video. Central Command submitted it to AARO; the image itself comes from a U.S. military system and dates from 2022. It is filed as “Kuwait, May 2022” although the location in the release metadata is Iraq. The person who reported it drew a red circle around the part of the picture they considered important before passing it on, so what the public sees is an annotated copy, not the raw frame.

What the image and report say

Inside the circle, in the upper left of the frame, is an elongated patch whose brightness increases steadily toward its lower right end. AARO describes it only in those visual terms.

The context comes from the accompanying mission report, DOW-UAP-D012. According to AARO’s summary of it, the operator saw one object heading north to northeast, followed it as long as possible and could not positively identify it.

Reading it carefully

A single frame cannot show speed, size or distance, and the image does not say which way the camera was pointing, so the streak’s orientation on screen cannot simply be matched to the compass heading in the report. The brightness gradient could reflect motion or the way the sensor rendered it; AARO does not say which. The record lists the event as unresolved.

The official description

From war.gov/UFO, released May 8, 2026, quoted in full

The United States Central Command submitted a report of an unidentified anomalous phenomenon (UAP) to the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) consisting of a still image derived from a U.S. military system in 2022. The original reporter digitally altered the imagery by adding a red line encircling an area of interest before submitting it to AARO. An accompanying mission report, DoW-UAP-D12, described the UAP as moving from north to northeast. The operator reported that they were unable to positively identify the UAP.

Image Description: The image contains an encircled, elongated area of contrast in the top left quarter. The area of contrast increases in intensity along its length from top left to bottom right.

The summary above is our own; the official description is the government’s, from war.gov/UFO. The Pentagon calls these unresolved cases — publishing a file does not mean it shows anything anomalous.
