PENTAGON UFO FILE · VIDEO · DOW-UAP-PR035Unresolved UAP Report, Greece, October 2023
Central Command sent AARO this short infrared video from a U.S. military platform near Greece in October 2023, with a mission report, DoW-UAP-D35, filed under the Aegean Sea. As AARO summarizes it, the operator described the object as small and circular, flying low over the water and heading straight toward land.
What happens in the video
Two seconds in, the operator zooms in on a patch near the middle of the screen. Through most of the remaining clip the sensor follows it across a background of open sea. At 20 seconds, as the scene below shifts from water to land, the patch can no longer be told apart from its surroundings, and the clip effectively ends there.
Why the background matters
Infrared cameras show differences in temperature, so a target that stands out clearly against cool water can disappear against land that is closer to its own temperature. AARO makes a general point of this kind in another file, DOW-UAP-PR115, explaining how targets can blend in or flicker. It does not apply that explanation to this case, which remains unresolved, and the record gives no altitude, size or speed. A report from the same area that month, DOW-UAP-PR034, also describes an object close to the sea surface.
The official description
From war.gov/UFO, released May 8, 2026, quoted in full
The United States Central Command submitted a report of an unidentified anomalous phenomenon (UAP) to the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) consisting of 24 seconds of video footage from an infrared sensor aboard a U.S. military platform in 2023. An accompanying mission report, DoW-UAP-D35, described the UAP as small and circular, flying near the surface of the ocean toward land.
Video Description: 00:02: The sensor narrows its field-of-view to zoom in on an area of contrast near the center of the screen. 00:03-00:19: The sensor tracks the area of contrast as it moves against the ocean background. 00:20: As the background scene transitions from being predominantly water to land, the area of contrast becomes indistinguishable.
