PENTAGON UFO FILE · DOCUMENT · DOW-UAP-D080Narrative Statement 2, Western United States Event, 2023
Witness 2 wrote the longest of the five statements AARO collected for the 2023 western United States case, and the only one organized as three separate incidents. The agent and a partner had been tasked to watch an area for people launching drones, and the first two episodes began at dusk on a clear night, the third later in the evening.
Three incidents
In the first, around 7 p.m., a light like a bright planet grew larger and released three or four red lights that snapped into a horizontal line; the agent says the cycle repeated about five times in half an hour, and a final group hovered over the southern horizon until the team left around 11 p.m. The agent compares it to a portal opening and closing, while stressing that this is only an analogy.
In the second, what looked like distant headlights flashed toward them beneath a row of red lights. The pair drove at the lights with their own headlights off, using night vision. At about 50 yards the light shot away, later turning into a box of orange and purple lights shaped like a semi-truck that glided across rough ground. In the third, a single light that seemed to sit on a highway moved off as they approached and stayed ahead even at about 80 miles per hour.
How the agent describes it
Witness 2 reports no sound, interference or physical effects, says the objects seemed to react to them and to mimic vehicles, likens the red row to the Phoenix Lights, notes that the AI-generated pictures attached were made about two and a half years later, and mentions video with audio of the pair’s reactions from the third incident, which is not part of this file. AARO’s assessment, which attributes part of the activity to military flares, is DOW-UAP-D077.
