Mission Report, Middle East, 2025

Department of WarIncident: 2025Middle East172 KBPartly redacted

This mission report (MISREP) goes with an infrared video in the release, DOW-UAP-PR135. It records a sortie by the 65th Special Operations Squadron under Operation Inherent Resolve that took off at 1734Z on July 29, 2025. While the aircraft was transiting to its target at 2022Z, the crew logged a UAP; the location and the aircraft’s altitude are redacted.

What the crew described

The description field reads “6X small spherical objects grouped together.” The crew said the group seemed agile and frequently changed direction, and under anomalous characteristics wrote that it could change direction “quickly and simultaneously.” The kinematic fields put the objects at flight level 220, about 22,000 feet, moving southeast at 480 mph. The reporting aircraft was heading northwest at 120 knots. The form records no response to being observed; the reaction field reads “followed of own accord until list[sic]. reported afterwards.”

What the form does not show

The objects are listed as solid, with unknown propulsion, unknown control and no advanced capabilities. No one was affected and nothing was damaged. The observer, a staff sergeant, had their assessment redacted, and the weather was clear. The speed and altitude are estimates; the form answers “NO” to whether the objects were interrogated by any sensor. AARO’s summary for DOW-UAP-D109 repeats this report’s text, although that file describes a different event.

The official description

From war.gov/UFO, released September 18, 2026, quoted in full

This document is a Mission Report (MISREP), a standardized reporting form the U.S. military uses to record the circumstances surrounding its operations. U.S. military services often use MISREPs to report unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP) to the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO). The GENTEXT, or “general text” section of these reports often contains important qualitative, contextual information, distinguishing it from the more quantitative, or numerical, data found elsewhere in the report. This mission report accompanies video footage derived from an infrared system aboard a U.S. military platform in 2025 (DOW-UAP-PR135).

A U.S. military operator reported observing UAP, describing it as consisting of “six small spherical objects grouped together, and characterized their behavior as “seem[ingle] agile,” and “frequently changing direction.” The reporter estimated the speed of the UAP to have been 480 miles per hour.

All descriptive and estimative language contained in this report reflects the reporter’s subjective interpretation at the time of the event. Such characterizations should not be interpreted as a conclusive indication of the presence or absence of any intrinsic object features or performance characteristics.

The summary above is our own, written from the file itself; the official description is the government’s, from war.gov/UFO. The Pentagon calls these unresolved cases — publishing a file does not mean it shows anything anomalous.
