This clip from the first PURSUE release is titled for the United Arab Emirates in June 2024, and the collection places it over the Gulf of Oman. It runs 21 seconds and was recorded by an infrared sensor on an unnamed U.S. military platform. The release credits U.S. Northern Command, whose area is North America, with submitting it; the record does not explain why.

A shape and a doubt

For the whole clip the sensor holds one patch of contrast near the center. AARO compares it to an upside-down teardrop with a narrow vertical mass trailing beneath it. The mission report filed with it described the object in plainer terms, as an object with a pole or bar hanging vertically from its underside.

What sets this report apart is the observer’s own caution: they suggested that what they were seeing might not be an object in the air at all, but a reflection of something in the water.

Reading it

That alternative is the only explanation the record offers, and nothing in the release confirms or rules it out. There is no altitude, range or description of motion, and parts of the record are redacted. The cross-reference is also confusing: the report is cited as “DoW-UAP-D8,” but the file numbered DOW-UAP-D008 in this collection is a Djibouti mission report of two “white hot UAPs.” AARO describes rather than analyzes the footage, and the case is unresolved. Earlier clips titled for the UAE include DOW-UAP-PR026; on the sensor type, see FLIR.

The official description

From war.gov/UFO, released May 8, 2026, quoted in full

The United States Northern Command submitted a report of an unidentified anomalous phenomenon (UAP) to the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) consisting of 21 seconds of video footage from an infrared sensor aboard a U.S. military platform in 2024. An accompanying mission report, DoW-UAP-D8, described the UAP as consisting of an object with a vertical pole or bar attached to the bottom of the object. The observer also reported that the UAP may instead be a reflection from an object in the water.

Video Description: 00:00-00:21: An area of contrast visually resembling an inverted teardrop with a vertically linear trailing mass suspended below remains generally within the center of the sensor field-of-view throughout the video.

The summary above is our own; the official description is the government’s, from war.gov/UFO. The Pentagon calls these unresolved cases — publishing a file does not mean it shows anything anomalous.
