This is the first of seven FBI renderings, numbered from 2-1 onward, made in 2026 at the Pentagon’s request from the account of Witness 2, another federal special agent at the October 2023 event near a sensitive western U.S. site. Witness 2 wrote the longest of the three agent narratives, DOW-UAP-D080, describing three separate incidents while assigned to watch for people launching drones. The release does not match each rendering to a moment; the series continues with FBI-UAP-D017.

Three incidents in one account

In the first, around dusk, a bright orb partway up the northern sky grew, released three or four small red lights that lined up, and faded; the agent says this repeated about five times in half an hour, and the last group of red lights hung over the southern horizon until about eleven that night, by the agent’s account. In the second, what looked like distant vehicle headlights flashed toward the pair while a row of red lights hovered to the south. Chasing one with their own lights off, the agents saw it turn into a haloed orb, race away over rough ground, and later reappear as a box of orange and purple lights shaped like a semi-truck. In the third, a single light sitting on a highway glided ahead of their car for miles, faster than they could follow.

The witness’s own caveats

Witness 2 reached for comparisons — a portal opening and closing, the flying car in the Harry Potter books, the Phoenix Lights — and judged the objects technologically advanced and reactive to the agents; those are the agent’s impressions, not findings. The narrative also includes the agent’s own AI-generated images, made about two and a half years later and not to scale. The FBI’s renderings are likewise reconstructions from memory, not records of the events.

The official description

From war.gov/UFO, released June 12, 2026, quoted in full

This image is an artistic interpretation of a reported incident near a sensitive national security site in the western United States involving unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP) over a period of two days in October 2023. This image is based upon a first-hand description provided by a federal law enforcement special agent, as described in DOW-UAP-D080. The Federal Bureau of Investigation prepared this digital rendering at the request of the Department of War in 2026.

The summary above is our own; the official description is the government’s, from war.gov/UFO. The Pentagon calls these unresolved cases — publishing a file does not mean it shows anything anomalous.
