PENTAGON UFO FILE · VIDEO · FBI-UAP-PR001“Triangle Orbs,” Northeastern United States, 2021
“Triangle Orbs” is the earliest of the FBI’s videos from one sparsely populated part of the northeastern United States: a clip shot before dawn in November 2021, at about 5 a.m. The witness, whom the FBI describes as highly credible, filmed it on a hand-held iPhone 12 Pro, so the picture shakes.
What was seen
The witness first saw a single intense light near the horizon, estimated at about 2,000 feet away. It then resolved into several lights that rotated erratically relative to one another, while the whole group drifted slowly from left to right. The FBI notes that the camera movement was unintended, which matters when watching the clip: hand shake can make steady lights appear to jump or circle. The clip runs 163 seconds.
The rest of the cluster
The FBI links this clip with the later “Red Orb Rotation” and “Orbs Over the Pond”, and with five witness interview forms, FBI-UAP-D004 through D008, all from the same general area. A later sighting from nearby appears in “Northeastern Orb Sighting.” The distance is the witness’s estimate, the bureau gives no explanation, and the release does not say what the lights were.
The official description
From war.gov/UFO, released June 12, 2026, quoted in full
In November 2021, at approximately 0500 local time in the northeastern United States, an eyewitness observed a bright light source near the horizon at an estimated distance of 2,000 feet. The light source initially appeared as a single intense luminous object before resolving into multiple lights exhibiting erratic rotational motion relative to one another. The object slowly moved laterally from left to right during the encounter. The eyewitness captured the video with a hand-held iPhone 12 Pro, resulting in unintended camera movement. The location was well known to the eyewitness and is sparsely populated.
The description above is derived from statements provided to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) by the eyewitness to the event. The FBI assesses the individual who reported this event as highly credible. The subject matter described in files FBI-UAP-D004 through FBI-UAP-D008 and depicted in the video footage FBI-UAP-PR001 through FBI-UAP-PR003 corresponds to reports originating from the same general area in the northeastern United States.
