“Slow-moving Objects,” 2026

FBIIncident: 2026Western United StatesLength 0:10
0:10 · plays from our Internet Archive copy · original on DVIDS

This brief clip was recorded in the western United States in 2026, and it is footage taken by the witness at the time rather than a description written afterward. A U.S. Government special agent filmed it with a hand-held thermal optical device, and the FBI released it alongside the agent’s interview record.

What the footage shows

The 10 seconds of video show two areas of contrast moving slowly together. The FBI describes them as “black-hot.” In that display setting, warmer objects appear darker than their surroundings, so the two shapes were registering as warmer than the sky behind them, but the clip alone does not tell how big or how far away they are. According to the companion interview, FBI-UAP-D032, the agent turned the device toward a bearing given after an alert about a radio-frequency detection, saw one dark object and then a second to its right, and watched them travel together above a mountain line until they moved out of view.

Limits of the record

The agent told interviewers they could not estimate the objects’ altitude or speed and was the only person at that location to see them. The FBI has not published an explanation, and inclusion in the release does not mean the objects were anything unusual. Thermal sensors pick up birds, balloons and aircraft as warm spots too, and two distant points with no size reference are hard to identify from imagery alone.

The official description

From war.gov/UFO, released August 7, 2026, quoted in full

A U.S. Government Special Agent captured this video footage via hand-held optical thermal imaging device during a 2026 incident in the western United States, as described in FBI-UAP-D032. The footage features two, slow-moving “black-hot” areas of contrast, visible in infrared imaging.

The summary above is our own, written from the file itself; the official description is the government’s, from war.gov/UFO. The Pentagon calls these unresolved cases — publishing a file does not mean it shows anything anomalous.
