PENTAGON UFO FILE · DOCUMENT · FBI-UAP-D032FD-302, “Slow-moving Objects,” 2026
This FD-302 is the write-up of a 2026 FBI interview with a special agent of the U.S. government about an afternoon sighting in the western United States. The report notes he has no aviation expertise, though he has some private pilot time. It is the written companion to footage he captured, published as FBI-UAP-PR007.
From a radio alert to a thermal sighting
At about 1604, or just after 4 p.m., he was alerted to an RF (radio-frequency) detection at 10,000 feet above sea level lasting 5–10 seconds, with no known bearing. A follow-up message asked him to look along a bearing of 58 degrees. Within minutes he pointed a thermal optical device that way and saw a black object in the sky, not moving fast, and photographed it. A second object then appeared to its right, and the two moved together at the same speed. Both showed as “black hot,” a thermal display setting in which warmer things appear dark. He watched for roughly 5–10 minutes until they traveled out of view, above the mountain line. The report describes their heading as southeast and gives it as roughly 58 to 62 degrees, although on a compass those bearings point east-northeast; the file does not reconcile the two. He could not estimate their altitude or speed, and their distance made even the direction hard to judge.
What the file leaves out
He was the only person at his location to see the objects and the only one using the optic; another agent reviewed the photos, which went to an FBI special agent. The device model, place and date are redacted, and the report gives no explanation. Another 2026 thermal sighting by a special agent in the West is FBI-UAP-D033.
