FBI Photo B014

FBIIncident: Late 2025Western United States74 KBPartly redacted

This frame is part of the FBI’s B series, stills from a U.S. military system, set in the western United States in 2025 that were sent to AARO because the operator could not identify the target. Like its neighbors it shows a pair of objects, but it also shows a trace of how the images were prepared for release.

Two dots and an edit mark

Near the center of the grainy monochrome frame, under a simplified crosshair, are two small, dark, round objects. The pairing matches the frames around it, such as B013, where the two shapes are elongated instead.

In the lower-right quadrant, AARO notes a digital artifact or distortion running along the edge of a redaction box. An artifact in this sense is a flaw in the picture produced by capture, compression or editing rather than by anything in the scene. Its position on the border of a blacked-out area ties it to the redaction applied before AARO received the image, though AARO does not say what caused it.

Why it matters

The B frames were altered before submission, which is why their sensor data and markings are hidden, and this frame makes that visible. Anyone studying the series should treat features near the redaction boxes with caution. The image arrived without a mission report, its date stamp is wrong because the system clock was never set, and AARO offers description, not analysis.

The official description

From war.gov/UFO, released May 8, 2026, quoted in full

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) submitted a report of an unidentified anomalous phenomenon (UAP) to the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) consisting of a still image derived from a U.S. military system in 2025. The original imagery was altered with redactions before being submitted to AARO. An accompanying mission report was not provided. The operator reported that they were unable to positively identify the UAP. The date in the image is incorrect due to system date/time not being set.

Narrative Description: The monochrome image displays a grainy texture with a simplified central crosshair. Two small, dark, circular objects are visible near the center of the frame. A digital artifact or distortion is visible along the edge of the redaction box in the lower right quadrant. This narrative description is provided for informational purposes only. Readers should not interpret any part of this description as reflecting an analytical judgment, investigative conclusion, or factual determination regarding the described event’s validity, nature, or significance.

The summary above is our own; the official description is the government’s, from war.gov/UFO. The Pentagon calls these unresolved cases — publishing a file does not mean it shows anything anomalous.
