This still comes from the FBI’s B series, images from a U.S. military system, set in the western United States in 2025 that the Bureau gave to AARO after the operator could not identify what was in view. It marks a change within the series: it is the first frame for which AARO describes a simplified central crosshair instead of the full reticle seen earlier, a style most of the later frames share.
What this frame shows
Near the center, in the bottom-right quadrant, are two small, dark objects, both elongated rather than round. Earlier frames such as B001 mostly show a single round dot against a mountain or cloud backdrop; AARO describes no background here, only the grainy monochrome texture.
Pairs of objects then recur through the following frames. In B014 they are round, in B016 irregular, in B018 elongated again but lower left, and in B022 elongated in the upper right. The release does not say why the crosshair style changed, whether a different display mode or camera was in use, or whether the pairs are the same two objects.
Limits
Two dark shapes close together could be one pair seen over time or different objects; a still cannot tell. The image was redacted before AARO received it, there is no mission report, and the on-screen date is wrong because the system clock had not been set. AARO’s narrative describes and does not analyze.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) submitted a report of an unidentified anomalous phenomenon (UAP) to the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) consisting of a still image derived from a U.S. military system in 2025. The original imagery was altered with redactions before being submitted to AARO. An accompanying mission report was not provided. The operator reported that they were unable to positively identify the UAP. The date in the image is incorrect due to system date/time not being set.
