PENTAGON UFO FILE · VIDEO · DOW-UAP-PR111Unresolved UAP Report, Eastern United States, 2020
Recorded in 2020 in the eastern United States and submitted by U.S. Northern Command, this one-minute infrared video stands out among the Northern Command clips in its release because the frame holds more than one object. Parts of the release are redacted, and no debrief or operator account is published with it.
Many contrasts, one tracked
For the first 21 seconds the sensor pans across the scene, and several small patches of contrast drift in and out of view. Then, from about 0:22, an auto-tracking reticle settles around one of them, and the operator keeps it near the center while others continue to pass through the frame. At 0:42 the sensor zooms out; by 0:50 the tracked contrast can no longer be seen, and for the last ten seconds the display flickers between black and picture as it cycles contrast modes.
What it doesn’t say
AARO gives no count of the objects and no indication of whether the tracked one differed from the others, and the record identifies none of them. Nor does it say what the platform was doing or why the operator chose that target. The release calls the case unresolved and stresses that its description is not an analytical judgment. See FLIR for the sensor type; more footage is at videos.
The official description
From war.gov/UFO, released July 10, 2026, quoted in full
The United States Northern Command submitted a report of an unidentified anomalous phenomenon to the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) consisting of 1 minute of video footage from an infrared sensor aboard a U.S. military platform in 2020.
Video Description: 00:01-00:21: Several small areas of contrast enter and leave the sensor field-of-view as the sensor pans across the background scene. 00:22-00:41: An auto-tracking reticle surrounds an area of contrast, and the sensor pans to keep it generally within the center of the frame. Several other areas of contrast periodically enter and exit the frame. 00:42-00:49: The sensor zooms out. 00:50-01:00: The area of contrast is no longer visible within the frame. The sensor display flickers between a black screen and normal function as it cycles contrast modes. No content.
