FD-302-67, “Northeastern Orb Sighting,” 2026

This FD-302, the FBI’s standard interview write-up, records a video-call interview in February 2026 with a witness from the northeastern United States. The witness is a “U.S. person,” government shorthand for a citizen or resident whose identity is protected, and the name, job, address and date of the event are all redacted. The account of the evening itself survives almost intact.

The red sphere and its twin

According to the interview, a member of the household was pulling into the sloping driveway at about 9:15 p.m. when an intense light was hovering below the tree line in the middle of the backyard. They got out, stared, then reached back into the car for a phone. Someone inside checked a security camera, saw them standing by the car looking into the yard, and came out too. The light was described as a red sphere about one meter across, a brilliant red unlike anything seen before, with what looked like a “white plasma sun” the size of a basketball at its center.

The orb rose and moved to the left, and a second, identical one was then noticed above it. The pair moved west over the trees, silent and smooth, keeping together as though in formation or tied to each other, and seemed to merge into one as they went out of sight. The phone video, started once the orbs were above the trees, was attached to the report. A few weeks later, the interview says, several white orbs crossed over the house from west to east, much higher up.
