PENTAGON UFO FILE · DOCUMENT · FBI-UAP-D028FD-302, “Dark Triangle with Lights,” 2011
This FD-302 records a joint FBI interview in April 2025 with two men who had both served in the U.S. military, about one evening in June or July 2011. The location is redacted, as are their names, but the account was detailed enough for the FBI to produce a rendering from it, FBI-UAP-D029.
The sighting
Around 8 or 9 p.m., they were in a car that had just left a driveway and was about to turn left when one of the two interviewees saw three lights in the sky. He got out and looked up at what he called a massive black isosceles triangle flying north, with a car-sized white light, set slightly back from each corner, giving off a diffuse glow. It was low and made a low, pulsing hum. By the time a phone came out it had crossed the tree line behind the houses to the north; he put the sighting at 10–15 seconds and saw no contrails.
The second man estimated it at perhaps 800 feet up, 200 feet long and 100 feet wide, and remembered something grayish or graphite-colored in the middle. He leaned toward an equilateral shape, though his own figures suggested isosceles. Neither could recall its thickness: they were mostly underneath it, and missed the best view of its back while fumbling for a phone.
Loose ends
One of them believed a couple of neighbors also saw it and offered to ask them, and other witnesses, to give statements or speak to the FBI. The released pages do not show whether anyone did. As with the other interviews in this set, the FBI records the account without offering an explanation.
