Digital Rendering, “Dark Translucent Triangle,” 2023

FBIIncident: 2023Colorado Springs, Colorado775 KB

This is the FBI’s 2026 visual aid for the interview in FBI-UAP-D026, in which a former Department of War employee describes a few seconds on his back porch in Colorado Springs, late one night in October 2023, when a triangular object flew over his house and away to the southwest. The released file is image-only, with no caption or text of its own.

What the artist had to work with

The witness said he noticed movement before he saw a shape. He described a triangle, perhaps the size of a large SUV and flying low, with rounded corners and a point facing forward, dark gray or silver against the night sky. It looked almost see-through, wrapped in a haze or distortion he compared to ripples around something under water, and a band of silvery-blue light ran along its flat back edge. It flew straight and level, very fast, tipped one side up almost vertically just before he lost it, and made no sound. His wife, who also saw it, recalled a dark seam around the edge.

Limits of the picture

The whole sighting lasted only seconds, and the witness himself said the haze may have softened the edges and made the object look translucent. The rendering is the artist’s interpretation of that memory. A different triangle report from Colorado Springs the same month, with red corner lights, is illustrated in FBI-UAP-D031.
