PENTAGON UFO FILE · VIDEO · DOW-UAP-PR022Unresolved UAP Report, Syria, July 2022
This Central Command report from Syria in July 2022 is a little different from most of its neighbors because the footage shows two sensors at once. The 14-second video, from a U.S. military platform, puts an infrared picture on the left and an electro-optical one, essentially a conventional daylight or low-light camera, on the right. The release does not identify the platform, and parts of the record are redacted.
What was reported and recorded
The accompanying mission report, DoW-UAP-D16, says the operator saw one object traveling north to south, and its summary adds that the whole observation lasted under a minute. In the video, AARO notes an object crossing from right to left through the top right quarter of the field of view at the five-second mark. Its description does not say which of the two side-by-side images that refers to, or whether the object shows up in both.
Why two sensors matter
An infrared camera sees heat, while an electro-optical camera sees reflected or emitted light, so comparing the two can help analysts judge whether a target is warm, sunlit, or both. In this short clip that comparison is not spelled out, and AARO reaches no conclusion. Screen direction also cannot be matched to compass direction without knowing which way the camera was pointing, which the file does not state. See also MISREP.
The official description
From war.gov/UFO, released May 8, 2026, quoted in full
The United States Central Command submitted a report of an unidentified anomalous phenomenon (UAP) to the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) consisting of 14 seconds of video footage from an infrared (left) and electro-optical (right) sensor aboard a U.S. military platform in 2022. An accompanying mission report, DoW-UAP-D16, described the UAP as “moving from north to south.”
Video Description: At the five second mark, the video depicts an object moving from right to left across the top right quarter of the sensor field-of-view.
