This six-second clip is the second of three that Central Command sent to AARO with a single October 2024 mission report from Syria. The operator described a “misshapen and uneven ball of white light” and a “light/glare halo effect” at the top of the full-motion video, or FMV, feed, the live video stream from the aircraft’s camera. Of the three clips, this is the one where the effect is described most precisely.

The shape on screen

Between two and four seconds in, a patch of uneven color and brightness, mostly white with red highlights, appears at the middle of the top edge of the display. AARO estimates it is about a third of the frame wide and covers about a sixth of the picture vertically. It likens the overall shape to a horizontal oval cut in half along its long axis, so a dome with its flat side along the edge of the frame.

Glare or object

That position, hugging the edge of the image, matches the reporter’s own description of a halo at the top of the feed. Glare and internal reflections in a camera can show up as bright shapes at the edge of a frame, but AARO does not say that is what happened here, and the reporter also described the source as unknown. Compare DOW-UAP-PR031 and DOW-UAP-PR033, and the mission report, DOW-UAP-D032.

The official description

From war.gov/UFO, released May 8, 2026, quoted in full

The United States Central Command submitted a report of an unidentified anomalous phenomenon (UAP) to the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) consisting of six seconds of video footage from a full-motion video (FMV) camera aboard a U.S. military platform in 2024. An accompanying mission report, DoW-UAP-D32, described the UAP as consisting of a “misshapen and uneven ball of white light,” and reported that a “light/glare halo effect” occurred at the top of the FMV feed.

Video Description: 00:02-00:04: An area of irregular color and brightness, mainly consisting of white and red highlights, appears near the center of the top edge of the sensor display. The area extends to a width of approximately one-third of the horizontal frame, with a vertical area comprising approximately one-sixth of the viewing area. Overall, its shape is best described as a horizontally-oriented half-oval bisected along its major axis.
