Transcript of an Unresolved UAP Report, Colorado, October 2023

Local Law EnforcementIncident: October 2023Colorado319 KBPartly redacted

Of the four Colorado law enforcement transcripts in the PURSUE release, this is by far the longest and the most revealing. It records what an officer said during 15 minutes of filming in October 2023, video published as LLE-UAP-PR002 with its sound removed. Here the officer is not just describing a light but telling the camera about earlier encounters, which makes it a window into a run of sightings rather than a single event.

The officer’s running commentary

The officer says it is “the second night in a row,” that the lights had been in one area the day before and were now “migrating” elsewhere — both places are redacted. Over the first few minutes the light is described gaining altitude and passing above a power line, then growing larger, which the officer takes as a sign it is approaching.

Between the observations come claims about previous nights: that “these things” stay in place for hours and move in triangular patterns, that the officer had twice seen one vanish “in an instant,” and that the night before one had shone a bright red and blue beam into the officer’s patrol truck. Around the nine-minute mark the officer wonders whether the light is separating into two. Near the end it moves west “at a pretty decent speed,” appears to give off a beam, and heads toward the officer, who calls that “very terrifying.”

What it does not establish

AARO stresses that all of this is the reporter’s subjective interpretation. The transcript gives no distance, size or identification, and the earlier encounters the officer mentions are not documented in this file. The light is never resolved into a shape on the record.

The official description

From war.gov/UFO, released September 18, 2026, quoted in full

This document is a transcript of a 15-minute video recording contained in this collection under the title LLE-UAP-PR002, captured by a law enforcement officer in Colorado in October 2023. AARO removed the audio from the original recording to protect information whose release could reasonably be expected to affect the privacy or other protected interests of a U.S. person or commercial entity. This transcript is also redacted to protect the identity of the reporter and sensitive law enforcement information.

All descriptive and estimative language in this transcript reflects the reporter’s subjective interpretation at the time of the event. Such characterizations should not be interpreted as a conclusive indication of the presence or absence of any intrinsic object features or performance characteristics.

The summary above is our own, written from the file itself; the official description is the government’s, from war.gov/UFO. The Pentagon calls these unresolved cases — publishing a file does not mean it shows anything anomalous.
