Unresolved UAP Report, Colorado, October 2023

Local Law EnforcementIncident: October 2023ColoradoLength 15:00Partly redacted

This is the longest of the Colorado local law enforcement phone clips reported to AARO in October 2023: fifteen minutes from the rear camera of an ordinary smartphone. “LLE” in the file number stands for local law enforcement, a category of source added in the sixth PURSUE release. The officer described what was filmed as silent, with flashing red, blue and green lights.

What is on screen

AARO’s description of the footage is brief. For the entire quarter hour, the camera stays on one apparent light source and keeps it roughly in the middle of the frame; nothing else is logged as happening. Unlike the other Colorado clips, where AARO blurred the lower half only in the opening seconds, this one is blurred across the bottom half throughout, to hide details that could identify a private person or business.

AARO’s caution about phone video

AARO adds that phones of this kind use autofocus and other automatic processing that can distort the apparent shape and motion of a distant subject, especially when zoomed in. That caveat matters for colored, flashing lights filmed at night, where processing can change how a point of light looks. AARO lists the report as unresolved, which means it has not been explained, not that it shows anything unusual. Related clips include LLE-UAP-PR003 and LLE-UAP-PR004.

The official description

From war.gov/UFO, released September 18, 2026, quoted in full

A local law enforcement officer submitted a report of an unidentified anomalous phenomenon to the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office consisting of 15 minutes of video footage from a commercially available cellular device’s rear-facing camera in October 2023. The reporting officer described the phenomenon as “silent” and as featuring “red, blue, and green flashing lights.”

Video Description: AARO digitally altered this footage by blurring the bottom half to obscure information whose release could be reasonably expected to affect the privacy or other protected interest of a U.S. person or commercial entity.

00:00-15:00: The camera focuses on an apparent light source for the duration of the video, keeping it generally centered within the frame.

AARO Comment: Cellular devices of the type used to capture this footage employ autofocus and other automated image-processing functions that may distort the apparent morphological and kinematic characteristics of distant subjects, particularly at high magnification.

The summary above is our own; the official description is the government’s, from war.gov/UFO. The Pentagon calls these unresolved cases — publishing a file does not mean it shows anything anomalous.
