PENTAGON UFO FILE · VIDEO · LLE-UAP-PR001Unresolved UAP Report, Colorado, 2023
This clip was sent to AARO by a Colorado law enforcement officer, who filmed it on an ordinary smartphone in October 2023. It runs 1 minute 19 seconds. The officer described what was filmed as a light that made no sound and flashed red, blue and green.
What the footage shows
The video is simple. For roughly the first 47 seconds the officer pans to keep a light source near the middle of the frame. After that the camera zooms in and out several times while still following it. AARO blurred the lower half of the picture to protect private information about people or businesses and removed the audio; a redacted transcript of what was said is filed separately. A much longer fifteen-minute clip in the collection carries the same description of a silent, multicolored light.
Nothing in the release says where in Colorado the officer was, what direction the camera faced or how high the light appeared to be.
Why the camera matters
AARO’s own comment is the key caveat. Phone cameras autofocus and process images automatically, and at high magnification that processing can change how a distant light seems to look and move. The repeated zooming in this clip is exactly the situation that warning describes, so apparent changes in the light’s shape or motion may come from the camera rather than the subject. The release does not identify the light or say whether the case was resolved. More footage is collected at videos.
The official description
From war.gov/UFO, released September 18, 2026, quoted in full
A local law enforcement officer submitted a report of an unidentified anomalous phenomenon to the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office consisting of 1 minute and 19 seconds of video footage from a commercially available cellular device’s rear-facing camera in October 2023. The reporting officer described the phenomenon as “silent” and as featuring “red, blue, and green flashing lights.”
Video Description: AARO digitally altered this footage by blurring the bottom half to obscure information whose release could be reasonably expected to affect the privacy or other protected interest of a U.S. person or commercial entity.
00:00-00:47: The camera pans to track an apparent light source, keeping it generally centered within the frame.
00:48-01:19: The camera increases and decreases its level of magnification several times and continues to pan to track the apparent light source.
AARO Comment: Cellular devices of the type used to capture this footage employ autofocus and other automated image-processing functions that may distort the apparent morphological and kinematic characteristics of distant subjects, particularly at high magnification.
